About HerHealth

This is education, not medical advice. HerHealth cannot diagnose you. If you think you are having a heart attack or another emergency, call 911 now.

Why it exists

Many conditions show up differently in women than the textbook picture, and much of that picture comes from research on men. HerHealth teaches the signs women actually report, through short cases with a teacher who talks you through them.

How a lesson is made

  1. We collected pages from public health agencies and medical societies, listed below.
  2. You can also make a lesson on any topic. Those use MedlinePlus, or a page you link from a reviewed medical site, plus a web search limited to the reviewed sites for how the topic shows up in women.
  3. Those pages are split into short passages and stored in a search index (Elastic).
  4. For each case, the teacher (Claude, an AI model) is given only the passages the search returns, and is told to use nothing else, cite each fact, and never diagnose.
  5. Any fact whose source was not in those passages is removed before you see it.
  6. When you ask the teacher a question in a built-in lesson, an Elastic Agent Builder agent searches the same index and answers only from what it finds.
  7. The teacher's voice is generated by Cartesia.

How we keep it accurate

  • Only reviewed sources. Lessons come from public health agencies and medical societies (NIH, CDC, MedlinePlus, womenshealth.gov, ACOG and similar). If you link any other site, the teacher doesn't use the page itself; she finds its topic and teaches it from MedlinePlus.
  • The AI doesn't write from memory. It is given passages retrieved from those sources and may only use what they say.
  • Every fact carries a quote. Each fact must include a sentence copied from its source, and we check in code that the sentence really appears there. Facts that fail are removed.
  • A second AI fact-checks the first. A separate review compares the answer, explanation, red flags and conditions to consider against the sources. Anything unsupported is removed, and if the answer itself can't be confirmed, the lesson is rejected.
  • You can check it yourself. The Sources step shows every fact with its quote and a link to the original page.
  • No diagnosis. The teacher never says what someone has. She points to a clinician, and to 911 for emergencies.

Limits

The cases are written by AI and can contain mistakes, so every fact links to its source for you to check. The people in the cases are made up. Lessons cover common warning signs, not every way a condition can appear. Talk to a clinician about your own health.

Privacy

You don't sign in and we don't ask for your name. Your browser keeps a random ID so your before and after quiz scores can be paired and your progress shown on the home page. Only those scores are stored, and the built-in lessons' scores also feed the impact page. Clearing your browser data resets your progress.
